Paper kites for my card at My Time to Craft

Good morning all

There's a great new challenge over at My time to Craft this week

Use newspaper or pages from a book

I really enjoyed this challenge - probably because its a wee bit different.  I didn't want to go down the paper flowers route as I felt sure everyone would do the same - but if you have a look at the MTTC challenge blog - you'll see just how original my teamies over there are!

I used this cute image by Crissy Armstrong at Whimsy Stamps called Want to fly a kite available here
I thought the newspaper kites would work well for this challenge and I made them very simply by cutting them out of newspaper by hand and cutting and colouring scraps of card for the crossed bars, I also cut bows to go on the kite strings.  I really like this cute little guy - he's a real little tubs!

This is what I did....

Image - Want to fly a kite - by Chrissy Armstrong at Whimsy stamps
Coloured with copics
Papers - K & Co Hopscotch boy
Twine and back pearls from my stash
Sentiment tags - LOTV

Challenges I'm entering with this card

Paper Pretties - for the kiddos
Creative craft challenges - For the kids
Send a smile for kids - anything goes

Hope you have a great holiday weekend

Hippity hoppity over to Delightful Challenges

Happy Maundy Thursday!

And the cold and snow goes on......

Our challenge over at Delightful challenges is a spring one but there's no spring around here - we have the tiniest sign of a few crocuses in the garden but I have a feeling the poor things will wish they'd stayed where they were -and there's no chance of us going out to start tidying the garden this Easter holidays - which is something we often do if we get  a nice  bright day over the holiday weekend.
- I don't care how bright it is - our garden will stay untidy as long as this freezing weather continues!

So spring is remaining firmly indoors and it's as good a reason as any to get crafting

At Digital Delights the theme is

Hippity Hoppity

that's something with a cute bunny theme, flowers - anything spring

Here's my card for the week made with the cute Easter Bianca

I just love the cute little girls in the Digital Delights range of stamps and they are often sitting like this one is - I  just sit them on the edge of a circle - like I did with this one
 - that's me life on the edge lol
Don't you just love those ears! - I wanted them to be outside the circle as well and after much faffing with dies (that's a very technical term) finally got them there

I've gone totally spring flower overboard on this one - I think its a hysterical reaction  to the weather but  thought I'd better call a halt to how much was on the front of this card - I think its pretty obvious its an Easter themed card just by looking at it
 - it doesn't need the word Easter anywhere on the front of this card!

But it does need it inside...

So I printed the Hoppy Easter sentiment - available here - super sized and put it inside, I didn't think it needed any more than that though I was tempted to keep on sticking those flowers - I decided to just let the paper do the talking

Our fab sponsor this week is

Crafty Ribbons

and we have a lovely ribbon prize from them so get hippity hoppitying!!!

Anyway - this is what I did......

Image -  Easter Bianca
Coloured with copics and prismacolor pencils
Sentiment Hoppy Easter sentiment
Papers - spring drop from first edition
Circles cut with spellbinders dies
Flowers - fabulous Phlox from Memory box dies
Butterfly - Whimsystamps die
Lace flower trim- (could be Anna Griffin) its been in my box of tricks for ever!
Pearls from my stash

Have a hippity hop (are you sick of this yet!) over to Delightful Challenges -there are some fab Easter and spring projects on the blog

Challenges I'm entering

Oldie but a goodie - Easter (lace flower trim, pearls)
Cutie pie challenge - Easter
forever friends - lots of flowers
shellys images - anything goes

Anything goes challenge at The Paper Shelter

Good morning all

Hope this (Spring??) morning finds you well.  So sorry I haven't been around much lately and I still haven't caught up on my visiting.  I've tried to keep on top of my DT work and have just about made it by the skin of my teeth!!  but I  don't have a lot of time for anything else - life's going through one of those busy/manic/disaster! phases at the minute- but I'm hoping things might improve this coming week!

Anyway enough of my grovelling lol- and back to the matter in hand which is the Paper Shelter Challenge - and this week its the easiest of them all -

Anything goes

I chose this really cut little 1920's girl - she was new at The Paper Shelter last month - I just love her

In the 20's set- available here

The image and the background comes in the set and I decided to use them both - just to show how you can ring the changes with these sets.   The sets with the ready made background papers make for a really quick card that looks great but  I printed off two of the paper so that I could cut out the oval and layer it up mounted onto card and foam pads to give some dimension and also thread a ribbon through behind the oval.  The paper also comes with fancy corners ready printed - which look really great - but again I've added my own metal corners over to add more depth to the card.  The only other additions are some gems and a couple of sentiment tags, finally I coloured my image with copics and rismacolour pencils and cutit out and  and mounted it onto foam pads - simples!

I'm really rather pleased with the effect of this card. it looks as if there are lots of layers, and it was so easy to make - there are some fabulous cards on the Paper shelter challenge blog this week - you really must have a look and join in our "anything goes".

We have fabulous prizes as always if you play with any TPS product, either images or paper packs you have the chance of winning our mega big gift voucher worth $30 to spend in the TPS store. Playing with another brand gives you the chance of winning three (3) digis of your choice, - so what a re you waiting for!?

Challenges I'm entering with this card

Divas by design - Use metal (corners)
Simon says - anything goes
LEJ designs - vintage or retro
Through the craftroom door - anything goes
Bunny zoes - girly

Its time to box clever!

Good morning all

Its challenge day at Fab'n'Funky challenges today and our lovely Ciska is hosting our challenge today. She has chosen a great theme for us

Out of the box

In other words your project must include a box of some description

We are sponsored this week by the fabulous Stampfairy

Who are offering a prize of  $10 to spend in their shop

I think boxes are something you either do or you don't - if you know what I mean!  I make quite a lot of boxes as I often put my cards into a box and tie it up with lots of ribbon and either decorate the box or make a tag to match the card, people are always far more pleased to receive a card in a box than an envelope for some reason!  I always use my Crafters companion to make boxes  - literally a five minute job with the help of four clothes pegs to hold it until the glue dries - and you can make any shape or size.

I made this box for a gift (some chunky jewellery) to go in and also made a card to match - but forgot to photograph the card before it went.... dir!!!

I found this so hard to photograph - I just couldn't get it at an angle where it looked like a box- I'm afraid this is the best I could do.  There's really nothing fancy about this box its 6 inches square and an inch deep the decoration of it comes from the patterned card - its double sided so has a different design inside of the lid and is topped off with a ribbon that I secured under the lid with collall glue.  The main feature is the cute tag again finished with a big bow ribbon - I do love my ribbons and bows!

Here's what I did....

Image - Lenny Flowers 3 from Stamp Fairy - available here
Coloured with copics and prismacolor pencils
Card - Kanban (patterned) and bazzill basics (plain pink)
Ribbon - from carnmeal cottage
glitter - (on flowers) diamond stickles

There are some great ideas for boxes on the Fab'n'Funky challenge blog - great ideas for Easter gifts

Challenges i'm entering with this card

Tuesday throwdown - make something dimentional
Partytime tuesday - anything goes
crafting for all seasons - anything but a card
stampavie and more- pink

Hostess Monday Project for Digital Delights by Looby Loo

Good Monday morning all

I have a new project today as its my turn to host our Monday inspiration
for Digital Delights by Looby Loo.
I decided I would make something a little different from a card for a change, but something that would perhaps be useful, and set about looking through all the fab digis that we have to choose from at Digital Delights for some inspiration.  I came across a  little book toting turtle called - what else but -
Scholar Myrtle available here
I thought that this image would make a fab bookmark and then went on to find Digital Delights even had a fab little bookmark and sentiment set as well available here

Bookmark sentiment setScholar Myrtle

This is what I did......
I used the bookmark template to get the size and dimensions of the bookmark to fit the image
Printed off one of the cute sentiments to use as well.
I Coloured Myrtle with copics,  keeping the colours fairly muted,
Gave it some shading with prismacolor pencils
And cut out the image
I then cut out the layers of the bookmark,
Cut a small tag with the sentiment
layered the whole thing up finishing off with a hole punched in the top to thread some fine ribbons through.

I thought it looked a little bit unfinished at this stage so cut a few star die cuts in matching card with a Nellie Snellen star die set and layered them up too.  I felt as if I could have used a few more embellies but  if it was a proper practical hard working book mark it simply wouldn't last with too many embellies or anything fancy like gems or charms so I decided enough was enough!

I enjoyed the challenge that I set myself  to make something different and practical and didn't know either of these  digis existed until I took myself on a tour of Digital Delights - and I look around almost every week, so who knows what you might come across if you just take the time to have a good look around!

Have a great week

My Little decoupaged garden

Morning all

Well I just about caught up with myself eventually - just!  So I;m here and on time with my MAWTT DT card for this week
And the challenge is

Decoupage

You can do any type of decoupaging you like  - just make sure we can see it
(or give us a clue where it is decoupaged!!)

I decoupaged an image that I stamped out

The image is" My Little Garden" from the Paper shelter available here

I decide to focus on the image for this card with just a ribbon and ribbon rose to embellish
I also kept the decoupage to just the pot of flowers - I had started off with an idea of decoupaged watering can, bees flowers - everywhere - then i reminded myself that less is more and I'm sure this card is the better for it!  I also used only black prismacolor pencil to give it a worn/vintage look.  I really wish I had photographed it before and after the pencil was applied because it really did bring this card to life - a tutorial for another day perhaps.

A close up of the decoupaged plant pot

Our Sponsor this week is
 - offering this fab prize

To be in with a chance - you have to be in it (to win it!)

This is what I did ....

Image  My little garden from the Paper Shelter
Coloured with copics and shaded with black prismacolor pencil

Have a great day everyone

What a day!  What a week!!

Visit to vet, broken wheelchair, fingers jammed in door, poorly baby, important meeting, no lunch!!
The wheelchair, fingers and baby don't belong to me but I was in charge of them! and they really messed up my day just the same!!

Last of the bunnies!

Hi all

I'm here with my DT card for MTTC - a little bit late but I've been feeling sort of yukky since Thursday and just couldn't be bothered to sit down and finish it. I've got all sorts of commenting and visiting to catch up with - so I promise I'm on my way round to visit and catch up!  I'm still not feeling 100% but sometimes you've just got to get on with it and I think I've come to the end of any sympathy I'm getting at home
